Zapiervs
Lindy

Both are described as AI doing the work for you, and they start in different ways. Zapier runs a defined flow when a trigger fires. Lindy stays resident, watching the inbox and the calendar, and acts when it judges it should. Automating a fixed process and delegating secretarial work are different problems. Who wins what
Routine data movement
Zapier
With a clear trigger and action, behaviour is predictable and cost is calculable.
First response to inbound email
Lindy
The work is reading and judging, which a fixed flow cannot express.
Many services to connect
Zapier
8,000+ connectors; even obscure SaaS usually has one.
Fixing the monthly bill
Zapier
Task limits are explicit, so the ceiling is knowable.
Trying it free first
Either
Zapier gives 100 tasks a month, Lindy $50 of credit. Measure your own consumption before deciding.
Strengths and trade-offs
Zapier
Strengths
- The widest connector library in the category
- Behaviour is predictable and auditable
- Cost can be calculated from task count
- Agent features available on the free tier
Trade-offs
- Task metering gets expensive on complex flows
- Stops when something unexpected arrives
- No self-hosting
Lindy
Strengths
- Runs without being triggered, watching inbox and calendar
- Handles work that cannot be written as fixed steps
- No-code setup by the person who owns the process
- $50 of credit to measure real consumption
Trade-offs
- Higher monthly cost than entry-level automation
- Consumption is hard to forecast before measuring
- Requires broad access to email, calendar and CRM
What it costs
Converted to twelve months from each vendor's public pricing page in November 2026: Zapier Professional $239.88 and Team $828; Lindy $599.88. Zapier rises in steps with task volume, so this is the minimum configuration.
Which one, for who you are
Marketing operations
Zapier Professional
Form submissions need to reach the CRM and Slack
Fixed trigger, fixed steps. Predictable behaviour and a calculable bill.
Founder of a small company
Lindy
Inbox triage and scheduling eat two hours a day
The work is judgement on arrival, which no fixed flow captures. Measure credit use during the free period.
Support team
Lindy for triage, Zapier for the rest
First response needs judgement; everything after it is routine
A workable split, as long as a diagram records which system owns which step.
Questions we get
- Why is Lindy more expensive?
- Staying resident and reasoning continuously costs more compute per item. If the flow is fixed, Zapier is cheaper. The difference only buys something when judgement is genuinely needed.
- Are Zapier's agents not enough?
- It depends on the job. Zapier Agents gives 400 activities a month even on free, metered separately from tasks. Trying that first and moving to Lindy only if it falls short wastes nothing.
- We cannot work with unpredictable costs.
- Measure during Lindy's free credit: how many credits one item of your own work consumes, multiplied by daily volume, gives the monthly figure. Going to production without measuring produces surprises on the invoice.
- Does running both make sense?
- Yes — Lindy for the judgement-heavy first response, Zapier for the fixed steps after it. Record which system owns which part, because two systems means two things to maintain.
