Claude
by AnthropicChat & reasoning4.9
Claude is the assistant to reach for when the input is long and the output has to read well. A 200K-token context window means you can hand it a whole set of internal documents, meeting logs or research transcripts at once and get structured output back. Its Japanese output is also why a lot of teams here standardise on it for drafting.

- Claude Design can sketch screen ideas inline
Trade-offs
- Feels slower than GPT on short, simple edits
- No native image generation
- Desktop app lags the web version on new features
Editors' review
Reads long inputs properly and shows its reasoning — the chat AI that gets the most real work done
If the job is to read a large input and come back with an accurate summary or extraction, Claude is currently the most dependable choice. The 200K-token window is two to four times what most competitors give you, so an entire document set, meeting archive or log file can go in as-is and come back structured. Anthropic's own model cards lean on long-context performance consistently, and it holds up in practice.
The quality of its Japanese is the other reason it gets picked. Give it a tone to hold and it holds it — noticeably better than the GPT family at not drifting mid-document, which is why a draft-with-Claude, finish-by-hand flow works well for internal email, newsletters and ad copy aimed at Japanese readers.
The weak spots are latency and anything involving images or audio. For short back-and-forth exchanges GPT-4 mini is faster, and there is no native image generation. Claude Design, the UI-sketching feature, is new and still limited next to v0 or Figma AI. For breadth, GPT wins; for depth on long text, Claude does.
Verdict
For writing, research and document work — especially in Japanese — this is the first thing to try in 2026. Start on Pro and give yourself a month to judge whether the value is there.
