Sierra
4.3
Sierra builds customer-facing AI agents that work across chat, SMS, voice and email, aimed at support organisations rather than at developers. The distinguishing feature is commercial: pricing is tied to outcomes the agent actually resolves, which shifts the risk of a poorly performing deployment back onto the vendor.

What it is good for
- Support teams with high ticket volume and repeatable questions
- Companies that want one agent across chat, phone and email
- Buyers who would rather pay for resolutions than for seats
- Enterprises that need the deployment governed and audited
Strengths and trade-offs
Strengths
- Outcome-based pricing aligns cost with results
- One agent across chat, SMS, voice and email rather than four tools
- Built for enterprise deployment, including governance and reporting
- Escalation to humans is treated as a first-class path
Trade-offs
- Enterprise sales motion: no self-serve trial, pricing on request
- Quality depends on the knowledge base you bring to it
- Overkill for small support teams
Editors' review
Outcome-priced support agents for organisations with real ticket volume
Sierra sits at the enterprise end of customer-service AI. The agent spans chat, SMS, voice and email, and the commercial model charges for issues the agent actually resolves rather than for seats or messages — unusual, and a meaningful signal about where the vendor expects the risk to sit.
What it is good at depends almost entirely on the material it is given. Where the knowledge base is current and the answers are genuinely repeatable, deflection is high; where documentation is stale, the agent inherits the problem. The preparation work is the project.
It is not a tool to evaluate on a free afternoon. Pricing is on request and deployment is a programme of work, so it only makes sense above a certain ticket volume. Smaller teams get further with an agent built on the tools they already pay for.
Verdict
Worth a conversation when ticket volume is high and the knowledge base is in good shape. Below that, it is the wrong size of tool.
