Greptile
4.3
Greptile reviews pull requests against an index of the entire codebase, so its comments can reference conventions and call sites outside the diff. It also bills by credits rather than per seat, which suits teams where a few people open most of the pull requests.

What it is good for
- Large codebases where the diff alone is misleading
- Catching violations of conventions that live elsewhere in the repo
- Teams with uneven PR volume across members
- Reviewing changes in unfamiliar parts of a legacy system
Strengths and trade-offs
Strengths
- Whole-codebase context, not just the diff
- Credit-based pricing instead of per seat
- Finds call sites and conventions a diff-only reviewer misses
- Enterprise contracting available
Trade-offs
- Indexing the codebase means granting broad repository access
- Credits make monthly cost less predictable than seats
- Smaller ecosystem and integration surface than the incumbents
Editors' review
Reviews the change against the rest of the codebase, not just the diff
Most review tools see a diff. The failures that actually cost time — a helper that already exists, a convention broken two directories away, a call site nobody updated — are invisible at that scope. Greptile indexes the repository so those comments become possible.
Credit pricing fits a common shape of team. Where two engineers open most of the PRs, paying per seat for everyone is waste; paying for reviews performed is closer to the value.
Indexing is also the cost: the tool needs broad access to the repository, which is a security conversation rather than a checkbox. Credits also make the monthly bill less predictable, so set a cap before rolling it out.
Verdict
The better choice on large or legacy codebases where context outside the diff is what matters.
