- Interviews and long recordings
Strengths and trade-offs
Strengths
- Transcription and basic summaries free and unlimited per the official site
- No monthly fee required to get a usable transcript
- Card form factor
- Favourable total cost over two to three years against a subscription
Trade-offs
- Roughly twice the price of Notta Memo up front
- Document generation and action extraction consume credits, capped on the free tier
- Sale pricing appears regularly, so the list price is not what you pay
Editors' review
The one where the hardware price is the whole price
Every other option in this category assumes a subscription behind it. Comu does not, and for anyone transcribing a lot that inverts the arithmetic. The official site is explicit that transcription and basic summarisation are free and unlimited.
Be precise about where free ends. Turning a recording into a document or extracting next actions uses credits, and the free tier caps them. Decide which half of the product you actually need before buying.
At JPY 39,800 list it is roughly double Notta Memo, which is the trade for having no monthly fee. Against a service costing a little over ten thousand yen a year, the total cost crosses over somewhere in year two or three — run that number for your own volume.
Verdict
The right answer if you refuse another subscription and transcribe often. Do the arithmetic first if you already pay for a meeting-notes service.
