Canva

4.6

Canva is template-driven design for people who are not designers: decks, social images, documents and video, with the Magic Studio set of AI features — text to image, background removal, resizing, writing assistance — included across plans. Its Japanese template library and interface are why it is the default here for marketing output.

Editors' review

The default for teams that need consistent creative without a designer

Canva's value is throughput. A marketer can produce a week of social creative, a one-pager and a deck without opening a professional tool, and the brand kit keeps the output inside the right fonts and colours even when several people are making things.

The AI features are included rather than sold separately, which matters for adoption — background removal, resizing and image generation get used because they are already there, not after a purchase decision.

The ceiling is recognisable. Work built from templates reads as such, and anything needing precise typography or print production still belongs elsewhere. For internal and social output that is an acceptable trade; for a brand campaign it is not.

Verdict

The right tool for volume and consistency. Bring in a designer when the work has to stand out rather than ship.
